چکیده
Background/Aim. Despite the widespread use of procalcitonin, C-reactive protein (CRP), and soluble CD14 subtype (sCD14-ST), their diagnostic accuracy in children with sepsis is not yet clear. The aim study was to establish compare CRP, sCD14-ST admitted hospital under suspicion having sepsis. Methods. designed as a retrospective cross-sectional on Pediatrics Clinic Kragujevac, Serbia, sepsis, during 6-month period. Diagnostic tested by construction receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves comparison terms area curve (AUC). Results. Procalcitonin had largest AUC [0.75; 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.63?0.88], followed CRP (0.68; CI 0.54?0.81) (0.65; 0.52 ? 0.79). Differences between areas ROC were significant (CRP vs. procalcitonin z = 1.054, p 0.291; 0.238, 0.812; 1.089, 0.286). Conclusion. Our showed relatively low sensitivity moderate specificity diagnosing among children, well similar three biomarkers.

Role of serum procalcitonin and C-reactive protein in the diagnosis of neonatal sepsis.
This cross sectional observational study was done in the division of neonatology, department of pediatrics, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in the year 2007. The study population was 50 newborns in total who needed evaluation of sepsis on clinical suspicion. The main objective of this study was to assess serum procalcitonin (PCT) as a better diagnostic marker than C-Reactive...
متن کاملPresepsin (soluble CD14 subtype) and procalcitonin levels for mortality prediction in sepsis: data from the Albumin Italian Outcome Sepsis trial
INTRODUCTION Sepsis, a leading cause of death in critically ill patients, is the result of complex interactions between the infecting microorganisms and the host responses that influence clinical outcomes. We evaluated the prognostic value of presepsin (sCD14-ST), a novel biomarker of bacterial infection, and compared it with procalcitonin (PCT). METHODS This is a retrospective, case-control ...
متن کاملSensitivity And Specificity Of Procalcitonin In Diagnosis Of Neonatal Sepsis
Background and Objective: According to the fact that neonatal infection is a challenging diagnosis field, several studies have tried to test sensitivity and specificity of diagnostic tests. This study was conducted to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of procalcitonin (PCT) as a single early marker of neonatal sepsis. Materials and Methods: In this study, 150 neonates admitted to NIC...
